Bringing up children is no easy job. And the best and probably the worst thing about parenting is that there are no rules! And even if there were rules, you can’t really implement them, as every child is different. So more than rules, we have some tips for you, which you can consider while bringing up your child:
1. Be what you want your child to be:
If you want your little one to spend less time on the screen and more time reading, he will do it only if he sees you doing it. Children observe their parents intently and try to imitate them. So if you opt to sit with your smartphone for hours together in your child’s company, you cannot expect him to read a book then! You start reading and watch how your child gets into the habit of reading them!

2. Allow the child to choose:
Since a young age, you should allow your child to make a choice. Let them decide how they want to dress up – they may end up looking funny, but it doesn’t matter. Allowing your child to make a choice will make him independent as he grows up. Of course, you can guide your child when you feel they’re going wrong, but at least allow them to think freely.
3. Express your love:
Make your child aware and know that he’s loved. Hug them, tell them you love them. In a world full of fake people, let your child know that there is someone who loves him unconditionally. This will give your child the confidence to confide in you and freely talk about what they feel.
4. Be open to discussion:
In case of difference of opinion, don’t get all authoritative on your child. Instead, discuss it out and tell your child why you feel it’s not right. Listen carefully to what your child is saying – sometimes observing things from your child’s perspective is important too. But again, this doesn’t mean you give in always – make an attempt to reason out and convince your child too.

5. Positive affirmation:
You need to build up your child’s confidence. Confidence and self-esteem are two important things which you have to equip your child. Keep reminding your child about the things they are good at. It will unconsciously build up their confidence, enough to take on the world as they grow up.
Hope these tips help!
